The 6mm projectile has proven itself from competition shoots to a great caliber for short to longer distance hunting. The range of bullets that is most popular is in the 87 to 100 grain range. The flat trajectories with a muzzle velocity around the 3200 ft/s mark, makes this a useful rifle for hunting medium bodied antelope and varminting. The ability of the 223 Remington Caliber to achieve good velocity with moderate recoil and still deliver pinpoint accuracy makes it a great choice for hunters and competition shooters alike.

Sauer 100 Fieldshoot Bolt
Simply perfect – simply SAUER. A one-piece, full-diameter bolt with three lugs locks within the barrel extension. The bolt release on the receiver’s left side engages a raceway machined into the bolt to provide stability and guidance during bolt travel. At the face of the bolt are two plunger-style ejectors and a sliding-plate extractor. A red cocking indicator protrudes from the bolt’s rear. The bolt handle is capped with a round, polymer knob that bears lateral grooves to ensure a firm grip.
Sauer’s combination of the extractor riding low in the ejection port and the dual ejectors means that fired cases leave the action at a low angle. The biggest advantage from Sauer’s attention to the extractor and ejector design is that the Sauer set up is least likely to have interference issues with a low-mounted scope. The bolt operate with a 60 degree bolt handle lift.
Sauer 100 Fieldshoot Barrel
The barrel on the Sauer 100 comes from the same factory and is made to the same specifications as all Sauer, Blaser and Mauser barrels. Sauer 100 barrels are hammer-forged and every Sauer rifle has a 1 MOA guarantee for three shots from 100 yards. The ripple-free exterior and the minimal tooling marks on the inside are both indications of the quality of its construction. The Muzzle features a target-style crown. The barrel has a satin finish.
Metal Bolt Shroud
Robustness and quality go hand in hand. The metallic bolt shroud covers and shields the rear of the bolt body and the firing pin. A red pin indicate when the rifle is loaded. The bolt shroud is stylishly design to taper with the rear of the action.
Unique Bedding System
The action bedding system of the Sauer 100 is unique. There is no recoil lug on the action. In place of the lug is a groove in the action behind the forward action screw. A machined block of aluminum that sits in the stock has a corresponding lug that protrudes into this groove when the stock and action are together. Sauer uses the same EVER REST action bedding as on the higher end S101 and S404 models.
Detachable Magazine
The magazine Sauer pairs with this action is a short, five-round, double-stack magazine. The detachable magazine is made of tough weatherproof and temperature resistant polymer.
Flush Fitting Magazine
Flush fitting, the removal of the magazine requires depressing a spring-loaded button located forward of the magazine well within a circular recess in the bottom metal.
Scope Mounting Options
The Sauer 100 accepts the same scope bases as a long-action Remington 700. Various aftermarket products for the Model 700 enables the Sauer 100 to use a wide variety of scope bases. Since they all fit the Sauer 100, there are as many options, as one can imagine. Sauer also strongly recommend the SAUER Hexalock mount
