Sako 90 Bavarian Rifle in 308 Winchester Features

Walnut Stock

The Sako 90 Bavarian rifle has a high grade Walnut stock that features a traditional hog’s back round shape of the rear stock that offer a comfortable shooting posture even when the shooting angle changes quickly. Although it can be used by left handed shooters and hunters, the stock design fits right handed shooters better. Sako has a dedicated Left hand Stock and Action for left handed shooters. It has a slight palm swell that fit most hands comfortably and is shaped in such a way that the finger align comfortably with the trigger. The Walnut stock is very stable, fairly warp and weather resistant.

Grip and For-end

The grip and for-end of the stock has a checkered pattern to ensure a firm grip in the wettest conditions. It has a nice comfortable fit in hand and contribute to the rifle’s fine balance and handling characteristics. Swivel studs come standard on the stock for the attachment of a rifle sling or bi-pod. The inletting of the stock also ensure a free floating barrel. The pistol grip has a slightly more vertical design and the end capsule is highlighted with a rosewood detail. The forend Schnabel also has a beautiful rosewood ending.

Durable Recoil Pad

Sako 90 Rifles are fitted with the latest in recoil pad technology. It reduces the impact of the recoil on the shooter which is a very useful feature, especially on the heavy recoiling calibers. The robust pad allows you to fully concentrate on the accuracy of your shots.

Trigger

The Bavarian is always equipped with a set trigger to match the needs of the most demanding hunters.  The standard single stage trigger can be used as a single-set trigger by pushing the trigger forward. This reduces the weight of pull down to approx. 250 g, offering an extremely light trigger pull when you need to take an extra careful shot.  The trigger is protected by a steel trigger guard. The trigger blade position is also adjustable.

Bolt

Sako has one of the most reliable, field tested and proven bolts on the market. The receiver houses a one-piece, full-diameter bolt with three locking lugs locks within the barrel extension. The bolt release is on the receiver’s left side. The ejector is mounted on the receiver. The extractor is mounted on the bolthead. The Sako 90 action has both push and controlled feed characteristics. A red cocking indicator protrudes from the bolt’s rear. The one piece bolt opens with a 70° bolt handle lift.
Sako matches the size of the action to the caliber.
Sako’s combination of the extractor riding low in the ejection port and the receiver mounted ejector means that fired cases leave the action at a low angle and can be neatly deposited in the shooters hand by opening the bolt slowly.

Barrel

The Blued cold hammer forged (CHF) barrel on the Sako 90 Bavarian is absolute class Sako engineering. All Sako rifles has a 5 shot 1 MOA guarantee from 100 yards. The ripple-free exterior and the minimal tooling marks on the inside are both indications of the quality of its construction. The muzzle has threaded options depending on the model and features a target-style crown. The barrel has a satin finish. Hunter barrel profile offers optimal weight and balance for easy control.

Metallic Bolt Shroud and Safety

Robustness and quality go hand in hand. The metallic bolt shroud covers and shields the rear of the bolt body and the firing pin. A red pin indicate when the rifle is loaded. The bolt shroud is stylishly design to taper with the rear of the action. The special two-way Sako safety locks both the trigger and the bolt handle. The unique bolt release button of the Sako Safety System allows you to load or remove a cartridge from the chamber while the safety is engaged.

Detachable Magazine

The magazine Sako pairs with this action is a five-round, double-stack magazine. The removable magazine has an all metal construction. Once inserted the magazine is flush fitting to the bottom of the stock. It also has to be pushed in for the latch to disengage the magazine. This function is to prevent the accidental release of the magazine.

Scope Mounting Options

The Sako 90 has the well known tapered dovetail mounts machined into the receiver for the fitment of scope bases. The most popular base and ring is the Sako Optilock mounts.
