Description
The Howa 24 inch 223 Remington Hera Black Varmint is a precision bolt-action rifle combining a Japanese cold-hammer-forged heavy barrel with a modular German-engineered polymer-and-aluminum chassis. It is built for long-range accuracy, target shooting, and tactical hunting.
Combined with the Howa Hera H7 Chassis, it offers precision shooters a modern and versatile system designed specifically for the HOWA 1500 platform. Crafted from impact-modified polymer and aluminum. The Hera H7 delivers a perfect balance of lightweight construction, durability and ergonomic comfort allowing for improved precision.
The heavier barrel profile also creates less recoil for absolute target shooting accuracy. It also comes with a forged flat bottom receiver with an integral recoil lug. Howa Barrel Actions are the most popular choice among competition shooters and with the addition of custom stocks and great modularity. The result is a modern rifle with exceptional value for money.

Howa 24 inch Blued Varmint 223 Remington Barreled Action Features
Action
The Howa M-1500 features a dual locking lug action, providing you with the same action type as some of the best custom built rifles, but at a fraction of the cost. The Bolt handle acts as a third safety lug.
In other words, one of the safest and strongest bolt actions on the market, the bolt features a one-piece forged body and handle. Three pressure relief holes are located at the bottom of the main body. An external style M16 type spring loaded extractor and a M16 style internal plunger ejector. The action length is also matched to the cartridge size of the caliber.
Safety
The Howa M-1500 Models provide you with a three position safety. The safety is easy to operate and allows you to unload the rifle while it is still in safety mode. The firing pin assembly is housed in a metallic bolt shroud. All Howa M-1500 bolt actions are drilled and tapped to accept one or two piece bases for the mounting of optics.
Barrel
The free-floating hammer forged barrel has no sights for a modern look and finish. The increased diameter of the barrel will result in increased weight and less recoil. Slower heating of the barrel will also take place during a succession of shots.
As with all other Howa M-1500 models, the Howa Varmint model has a twist rate that is carefully selected for each individual caliber to optimize bullet performance and accuracy. Barrels come with a precision crown in both threaded and non threaded options.
Howa HACT 2 Stage Trigger
All Howa Varmint rifles include an adjustable Howa HACT 2 Stage Trigger. The Howa Actuator Controlled Trigger system eliminates trigger creep and lightens the trigger pull, delivering out of the box accuracy. The HACT System fits all Howa M-1500 rifles that were previously equipped with Howa’s three position safety trigger group. The trigger is set to 2.5 – 3 lb. It is finished with a serrated trigger shoe.
Chassis System
The Hera H7 features fiberglass-reinforced polymer body with an internal aluminum V-block and aluminum fore-end. In conclusion, the H7 CHASSIS delivers unmatched performance and reliability for HOWA 1500 enthusiasts. Available not only in classic black but also FDE tan and ODG green colors.
Magazine
The Howa Hera Varmint comes standard with a metal trigger guard and a detachable polymer magazine. Features an AICS-compatible detachable polymer magazine with a 5-round capacity. The Magazine color matches the color of the chassis. In other words, Black chassis black mag, ODG chassis ODG mag and FDE chassis FDE mag.
