Sako TRG M10 Barrel & Tactile Indicators
True to the Sako Brand all barrels are hammer forged. However unlike the TRG barrels that are manufactured from chrome-moly steel, the TRG M10 uses stainless steel. All TRG M10 barrels are precision crowned and threaded with a muzzle cap. The stainless steel barrels are finished with a dull, non reflective and durable phosphate coating.
The Sako TRG M10 has distinctive visual and tactile indicators for respective calibers. Identification of caliber specific components can be done from grooves on barrels and bolt bodies and circles on magazine base plates. Uniquely designed tactical indicators help identify different modular components for different calibers, where every caliber-depending component is specially marked so users can recognize the caliber of each part visually or by touch. One groove / circle for .308 Win, two grooves / circles for .300 Win Mag and three grooves / circles for .338 Lapua Mag.
Sako TRG M10 Bolt & Receivers
Standard to the TRG line of rifles, the TRG M10 bolt also has three locking lugs and a mammoth Sako extractor that is even wider than the TRG 42. The TRG M10 bolts are black in all the caliber configurations and carry the tactile indicators specific to the caliber. The 60° degree opening angle for fast bolt throw, dual ejectors and robust bolt handle can withstand even the roughest handling. Each caliber has its own barrel, bolt and magazine.
The receiver comes standard with a 30 MOA Picatinny rail for the mounting of Optics. It also has a compartment in the lower receiver where additional torx keys are stored for field configurations.
Sako TRG M10 Trigger Mechanism
In 2013 the Sako also introduced a new trigger mechanism for both the Sako TRG M10 and Sako 42 models. The new trigger mechanism ensures improved safety measures in case the rifle is accidentally dropped. It also features a new safety lever, which is ergonomically positioned and designed to make it faster and more convenient to use. The robust, fully adjustable trigger unit can be adjusted between 2.2 and 4.4 pounds. The shooter can also change the sear adjustment for single or two stage use. The trigger unit can be detached from the weapon for maintenance and adjustment without further disassembly of the weapon.
Sako TRG M10 Ambidextrous Controls
Ambidextrous controls of the weapon are well within reach of the firing hand and large enough to be operated with gloves on.
Sako TRG M10 Frame
The totally free floating fore-end is available in two different lengths, short or long, allowing weight and balance optimization with the different barrel lengths. Both fore-end length options are available in the three colors, Green, Coyote Brown or Black. The fore-end has multiple positions for MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny-Rails to match the operational requirement and chosen accessories. It has a full length picatinny rail in the 12:00 position which is ideal mounting platform for any inline night vision or thermal imaging device. It also has a detachable full length rail in the 6:00 position for the mounting of various types of bi-pods, tripods or other accessories.

About Sako Sniper Rifles
The Sako Rifle Brand has established itself as probably the best known hunting rifle brand over decades in South Africa and one of the very best in the world. It is synonymous with quality workmanship, beautiful aesthetic finishes and excellent value for money. One of the latest trends in sport shooting and hunting is the Long Range discipline. Once again Sako has delivered a line of rifles that set the benchmark.
In 2007 SOCOM (Special Operations Command) in the USA realized it needed a precision rifle capable of shooting beyond the capabilities of the Remington M24. USA SOCOM Snipers did not have enough ballistic power to shoot from ridge-line to ridge-line in Afghanistan and so the search began. One of the strongest competitors for this contract was Beretta Defense Technologies” rel=”noopener” target=”_blank”>Beretta Defense Technologies with the Sako TRG M10 Sniper Rifle. Sako Defense introduced the TRG M10 in 2011 for Military use only. In 2015 Sako released the first models for civilian use, building on the popularity of the TRG 22/42 models.
The backbone of the engineering of the Sako TRG M10 338 Lapua Magnum Sniper Rifle was to provide a military bolt-action sniper rifle that is a multi-functional system in a single weapon. The SAKO TRG M10 has been designed to have a Modular Multi Caliber Capability enabling the operator to change the barrel and caliber in field conditions within minutes and without the use of any special tools or equipment. The objective was to enable the operator to tailor the weapon into mission specific configurations. Available in multiple calibers, it can easily be switched between .308 Winchester, .300 Winchester Magnum and 338 Lapua Magnum chamberings by changing out the bolts, magazines and barrels. The only tool needed to accomplish this is the rifle itself. Additional calibers, different length fore-ends and barrel kits can be purchased and will soon be available in South Africa.
