The Winchester Model 70 Safari Express chambered in the legendary 375 Holland & Holland Magnum Caliber is a great hunting rifle for big bodied animals. Winchester Model 70 375 H&H Magnum Safari Express Features

Walnut Stock

The Winchester Model 70 Safari Express rifle comes with a heavy, straight grained high grade American Walnut stock. It features a straight comb and shadow line cheekpiece on the left hand side of the stock. Although it can be used by left handed shooters and hunters, the stock design fits right handed shooters better. It has a slight palm swell that fit most hands comfortably and is shaped in such a way that the finger align comfortably with the trigger. The dense American Walnut stock is very stable, fairly warp and weather resistant. The dual recoil lugs and two steel stock reinforcing crossbolts will add to the durability and strength of the stock to handle the punishment from heavy magnum loads.

Grip and For-end

The for-end of the stock on the Winchester Model 70 Safari Express has a laser cut checkered pattern to ensure a firm grip in the wettest conditions. It has a nice comfortable fit in hand and contribute to the rifle’s fine balance and handling characteristics. Trigger

The trigger is Winchester’s new M.O.A. model, which, on this gun, is set at a dead-clean 4 pounds 8 ounces. That’s heavy for any other rifle, but perfect for a dangerous-game gun. M.O.A. Trigger system has zero take-up, zero creep and zero overtravel which gives you outstanding accuracy. The trigger is protected by a steel trigger guard.

 

Bolt

The Winchester Model 70 Safari Express comes with the Pre-’64 style controlled round feed with claw extractor. It fully controls the cartridge from magazine, to chamber to ejection. A one-piece, full-diameter bolt with two locking lugs locks within the barrel extension. The bolt release is on the receiver’s left side. The blade type ejector is mounted on the receiver, giving the shooter complete control of the ejection force. The extractor claw is mounted on the bolthead.  The one piece bolt opens with an approximate 70° bolt handle lift.
The combination of the extractor riding low in the ejection port and the receiver mounted ejector means that fired cases leave the action at a low angle and can be neatly deposited in the shooters hand by opening the bolt slowly. The bolt body has a beautiful jeweled finish.

Barrel

The Blued barrel on the Winchester Model 70 Safari Express  is absolute class engineering. Winchester barrels are hammer-forged and and free floating for absolute pinpoint accuracy. The ripple-free exterior and the minimal tooling marks on the inside are both indications of the quality of its construction. The muzzle is not threaded and features a target-style recessed crown. The barrel has a satin finish. A fully adjustable rear sight with hooded brass bead front get you on target quickly.

Metallic Bolt Shroud

Magazine
