Sako S20 Precision and 30-06 Springfield combination

The Sako S20 Precision chambered in the immortal 30-06 Springfield Caliber is a great all round rifle. Introduced in 1906, the 30-06 Springfield is still one of the most versatile and widely used hunting rifle calibers today. The range of bullets that seem to be the most popular is in the 150 to 200 grain range. The flatter trajectories with a muzzle velocity around the 2500 to 3000 ft/s mark, makes this a useful rifle for hunting larger bodied antelope like Kudu, Eland and Blue Wildebeest on the plains or in the bush.

Tactical Precision Stock

The Sako S20 Precision rifle has a high grade synthetic tactical precision style stock that features an adjustable cheekpiece. The length of pull can easily be adjusted with spacers. Created especially for long distance and precision shooting, the modular S20 Precision stock fits both right and left handed shooters comfortably. It has a slight palm swell that fit most hands comfortably and is shaped in such a way that the finger align comfortably with the trigger. At the core of the stock is an aluminum skeleton for ultimate stability in the stock. The S20 stock is extremely stable, warp and weather resistant even in the most adverse conditions. The S20 tactical precision rear stock combines great modularity with unparalleled ergonomics for the most demanding precision shooters out there.

Grip and For-end

Both the Pistol Grip and For-end of the stock has a rough textured pattern to ensure a firm grip in the wettest conditions. It has a nice comfortable fit in hand and contribute to the rifle’s fine balance and handling characteristics. The forend has integrated M-LOK placements on both sides of the stock and on the bottom, so attaching multiple accessories is possible. Quick Detach Swivel Sling cups are position on either side of the butt and for-end. The inletting of the stock also ensure a free floating barrel. The stock also has a pronounced pistol grip, enhancing the ergonomics of the stock. It also adds to the comfort of shooting the rifle in a prone position.

Durable Recoil Pad and Length of Pull adjustment

Sako S20 Precision Rifles are fitted with the latest in recoil pad technology. It reduces the impact of the recoil on the shooter which is a very useful feature, especially on the heavier recoiling calibers. The robust pad allows you to fully concentrate on the accuracy of your shots. The Length of Pull can also be adjusted to personal preference with 5mm spacers.

Trigger

The wide and smooth design of the trigger distributes pressure to a larger area, thus improving the feel of trigger sensitivity. For the most optimal trigger ergonomics that fits different hand sizes, it’s possible to move the trigger either backwards (by 3 mm) or forwards (by 4 mm) with an Allen key. The weight of pull can also be adjusted (1–2 kg / 2–4 lbs). S20 triggers are available in single stage or two stage variants.

Bolt

The bolt is manufactured from high-grade, weather-resistant stainless steel, the barrel shroud has a steel core, and the bolt handle is interchangeable. The locking lug surface area is high, increasing safety and performance, and its design enables smooth, fast, safe and precise operation of the bolt and the rifle. The one piece bolt opens with a 70° bolt handle lift.

Sako’s combination of the extractor riding low in the ejection port and the receiver mounted ejector means that fired cases leave the action at a low angle and can be neatly deposited in the shooters hand by opening the bolt slowly.

Barrel

All Sako S20 feature match-grade cold hammer forged barrels, making them durable, accurate and with excellent tolerances. The cold hammer forging technique changes the structure of the steel, increasing its toughness and making the barrel life of your rifle longer. Sako barrels do not have to be broken in, but instead have superb out-of-the-box accuracy.  The Sako S20 muzzle is threaded and features a target-style crown. The barrel has a satin finish.

Metallic Bolt Shroud

Robustness and quality go hand in hand. The metallic bolt shroud covers and shields the rear of the bolt body and the firing pin. A red pin indicate when the rifle is loaded. The bolt shroud is stylishly design to taper with the rear of the action.

Detachable Magazine

The magazine is made of highly robust glass-reinforced composite, a durable material that’s not affected by changes in temperature. A composite magazine doesn’t change its structure when dropped (contrary to a metal magazine), ensuring reliable feeding. You can find the caliber markings on the magazine. S20 magazines can also be disassembled for maintenance.

Scope Mounting Options

The Sako S20 has a picatinny rail that is machined directly into the steel surface of the receiver. Any scope rings that attach on a weaver or picatinny style mount can be used on the Sako S20.

Safety

The special two-way Sako safety locks both the trigger and the bolt handle. The unique bolt release button of the Sako Safety System allows you to load or remove a cartridge from the chamber while the safety is engaged.
